University of Maine at Farmington Huston Takes Over the Field Hockey Program

Following the departure of longtime Head Coach Cyndi Pratt, Director of Athletics Jamie Beaudoin has elevated Hattie Huston from Associate Head Coach to Interim Head Coach.

Huston is an alumnus of Farmington, having played four seasons under Pratt from 2007-2010 putting together a highly successful career. She graduated from Farmington having amassed 28 goals and 19 assists. During her senior season in 2010 she garnered Second Team All-NAC honors after leading the conference with 16 goals and 40 points.

After graduating from UMF she briefly lived in California where she became a licensed field hockey official before returning to Maine in 2013 and joining Pratt's coaching staff.

Huston takes over the reins having several years of coaching experience. Aside from her role as Associate Head Coach under Pratt, Huston is also a coach for the Coastal Field Hockey Club based out of Portland, Maine and has also been a coach at several All-American Camps coaching some of the best athletes the state has to offer.

"Our field hockey program is fortunate to have Hattie Huston to step in to be our head coach for the 2022 season.  She has been a loyal assistant, a proud member of our alumnae, and has great connections in the field hockey community.   She will be able to continue to provide a quality student-athlete experience and has had an amazing mentor in former coach Cyndi Pratt to help prepare her to lead her own program.  I look forward to seeing our team back on the field this fall and competing for a NECC Championship under Hattie's leadership" Beaudoin states.

Pratt leaves after 18 seasons at the helm for the Beavers having amassed a record of 166-127 including a record of 88-32 in conference with six conference championships.

Huston is looking forward to taking over the program stating, "I am passionate about UMF field hockey and am excited about this new opportunity. I am eager to continue to build on the great program that Cyndi Pratt has developed. My hope is that my hiring will keep the same continuity and consistency within the field hockey program."

The Beavers will kick-off their season at the Caryl Newhof Invitational hosted by Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts on Saturday September 3rd against Nichols College at 2:30 PM.
