Mariners volleyball's Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) has been named to the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Second Team All-New England after earning the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Year and First Team Honors. She becomes the first mariners volleyball player to earn the honor. Melampy was also selected to represent Maine Maritime in the NEWVA All-Star Classic.
Melampy had an impressive season for the Mariners, leading them to a NAC Championship and to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. She totaled 381 kills on the year, hitting .339. She also added 276 digs, 32 aces, 16 assists, and 13 blocks on the year. Melampy also ranks ninth in the country in kills per set with 4.33 k/s.
