Mariners volleyball won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship over SUNY Delhi 3-2 (25-17, 20-25, 23-25, 25-15, 15-8), in a very hard fought match. The Mariners responded with two strong sets, after being down 2-1, to claim the title.
How it Happened: The Mariners got off to a great start in the first set opening up a 20-11 lead before Delhi put in a small rally, but was never able to threaten and the Mariners took the set 25-17. However, the Broncos found their rhythm in the second and third sets behind strong service runs, to win set two 25-20 and set three 25-23.
In the fourth set, the Mariners jumped to a quick start and never looked back. Katie Albritton (Hutto, Texas) and Grace Jennings (Upper Kingsclear, Canada) went on lengthy service runs and Rachel Melampy (Duxbury, Mass.) continued to play exceptional volleyball at the net to give them the set 25-15.
The fifth set had much of the same feeling as Albritton responded to an early Delhi lead with another service run as the Mariners claim their sixth-straight NAC Championship.
