University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls Battle Against Top Seed Eagles

The UMPI Owls women’s Soccer team competed in the North Atlantic Conference East Semi Finals vs the number one seed, Husson University. With a crowd of 550 people to support both the Eagles and the Owls, the Eagles would beat the Owls 3-1.The Eagles offense would stay in control of the game early, despite the Owls defensive efforts to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard, Husson would score in the first half to take an early lead. Charlotte Messer would score the goal, assisted by Natalie Aviolla. After the first half, the Eagles led the Owls with ten shots to the Owls one. In the second half the Eagles would score yet again in the 63rd minute. The Owls would break the drought in the 87th minute off a goal by first year midfielder, Camryn Ala. Kassandra Nelson would earn the assist. The Eagles would add one more goal in the 88th minute to put the game away and advance.Alexis Ireland would lead the Owls with two of the team’s five shots, one of which was on goal. Ala would score her second goal on the year off her only shot of the day. Savannah Rodriguez spend the game in goal for the Owls, finishing the game with five saves.
