At a recent County Commissioner's meeting, it was announced the Hancock County Commissioner's and Sheriff's Charities have agreed to a project to assist senior citizens in the county with funds administered by Downeast Community Partners with the high cost of heating this winter. Commissioners have pledged for every dollar donated up to $20,000.00 to this project, to match it with two dollars of ARPA funds. Sheriff's Charities have pledged for every dollar donated up to $10,000.00 to match it with a dollar. This magically turns a one dollar donation into four dollars.
We have received a donation from Dead River Oil for $2500.00 and one from United Bikers of Maine for $250.00. Applying our matches brings this total to $11,000.00 to kick the program off.
We wish to thank Dead River and United Bikers of Maine for their generous donations.
If anyone wished to contribute you can contact the Sheriff's Office or Downeast Community Partners.
