National Parks are places for learners at every level. Last week, the education team at Acadia National Park had the pleasure of hosting a class from the University of Maine for a day. A Parks, Recreation, and Tourism class joined rangers for a behind the scenes peek at science communication on Schoodic Peninsula. College students observed the overnight Schoodic Education Adventures program, toured the campus classrooms, and got a good look at the distance learning virtual studio. This year Acadia staff offered 650 virtual programs to nearly 14,000 participants in 46 states. Several of Acadia’s current park rangers are University of Maine alumni, so this was a great moment to share career opportunities and make connections.
