Maine Maritime Academy’s Rayelle Brewer (Cheyenne, Wyo.) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Women’s Swimming & Diving Rookie of the Year, while Tony DeMuro (Fourth Season) has been named the NAC Coach of the Year and Milo Cook-Sharp (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) earned a spot of the NAC Sportsmanship Team. Megan Durrua (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.), Liza Zhukov (Barrington, R.I.), and Natasha Kopeck (Manchester Center, Vt.) join Brewer on the NAC First Team All-Conference.
 
Brewer, a Marine Biology major, finished first in the 50-yard butterfly and 50-yard and 200-yard freestyle. She also was part of a relay team that finished first in the 200-yard freestyle and was part of relay teams that finished second in the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. Brewer earned NAC Rookie of the Week honors three times during the 2022-23 campaign, and was named Swimmer of the Week on December 5, 2022.
 
DeMuro led his squad to a second-place finish at the NAC Championship this season. Maine Maritime posted 563 points at the championship, trailing the first place team by less than 20 points.
 
Cook-Sharp, a Oceanography / Small Vessel Operations major, finished third in the 200-yard butterfly and third in the 200-yard IM on championship weekend. This team is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. The honorees positively affect the women’s swimming & diving culture and match environment by clearly demonstrating sportsmanship and integrity beyond the sport playing rules and etiquette.
 
Durrua, a Marine Transportation Operations major, placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard IM, and part of a relay team that finished first in the 200-yard freestyle. She also finished second in the 50-yard breaststroke and was part of relay teams that finished second in the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
 
Zhukov, an International Business and Logistics major, won the 50-yard backstroke and was part of a relay team that finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. She also was part of relay teams that finished second in the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
 
Kopeck, a Coastal & Marine Environmental Science major, was part of a relay team that finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. She also was part of relay teams that finished second in the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
