Maine Maritime’s Jed Astbury (Bridgewater, Vt.) has been named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

Astbury was integral in the Mariners 28-1 home opener win over Salem State on Saturday. The senior face-off specialist went an impressive 23-of-26 (88.5%) from the X, and scooped up a career-high and MMA single-game record 17 ground balls. Astbury’s dominance at the X helped earn possession for the Mariners and assisted in holding the Vikings, who averaged 7.8 goals per game entering the contest, to just one goal.
